Job Description

Vehicle Test Technician

Location: Oshkosh, WI
 Duration: Long-term with potential extension
 Pay Range: $43–$48 per hour

Position Summary:
 The Vehicle Test Technician supports engineers and senior technicians in testing, diagnosing, and improving heavy-duty and automotive vehicle systems. This role involves hands-on work with vehicle components, configuration changes, test stand setups, and data collection to ensure that products meet performance and safety standards. The technician will assist with both new product development and sustaining engineering efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct prototype and current product testing to validate performance and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Record and analyze data from electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic vehicle systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting and basic failure analysis to identify and resolve issues.
  • Assemble, disassemble, and fabricate mechanical components, parts, and test fixtures as required.
  • Operate vehicles and heavy equipment during testing or material handling.
  • Identify and select appropriate testing instruments and tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following all company safety protocols.
  • Manage daily work priorities to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Communicate effectively across departments to provide technical feedback and support.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Technical diploma and 3+ years of experience in engineering, testing, or related fields
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of vehicle systems
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent technical education
  • Background in heavy-duty diesel or automotive systems
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Knowledge of automotive and mechanical terminology
  • CDL or operator licenses for telehandlers and aerial work platforms (AWP)
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Strong attention to detail with clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Personal mechanic tool set and toolbox (required for Defense projects)
