Job Description

The Quality Specialist will be a crucial team member responsible for independently reviewing Quality System processes within the supply base. This role ensures that these processes meet acceptable standards, delivering a quality product to the customer during the launch of new products.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing on-site support at supplier facilities to ensure launch readiness, both before and after program launch.
  • Collaborating with Powertrain Engineering, Manufacturing, and Purchasing teams to select technically proficient suppliers and viable manufacturing processes.
  • Driving changes within plant manufacturing and among component suppliers to resolve issues and ensure robust, capable processes.
  • Leading problem-solving activities with internal and external organizations and managing key component quality milestones.
  • Traveling to supplier locations and other facilities within the U.S., Canada, and possibly Mexico (approximately 20% travel required).

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Reactive Black Belt and Green Belt training with completed projects
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Powertrain Manufacturing or Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Powertrain Quality
  • Thorough understanding of Engines and Driveline components
  • Thorough understanding of Automotive Quality and Supplier Operations
  • Thorough understanding of structured problem-solving and root cause analysis
  • Ability to stand and be on your feet for long periods in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Requirements:

  • Black Belt or Green Belt certification
  • Experience in launching engine programs
  • Strongly desired experience in manufacturing, design release, and/or supplier quality
  • Strong knowledge of engines, transmissions, and driveline components
  • Experience in working within a lean/flat organization with cross-functional skills
  • Experience collaborating with internal teams to develop and implement integrated content to drive growth and maximize customer value
  • Creative thinking skills for data analysis and identifying new opportunities
  • Ability to lead without direct authority
  • Strong communication skills
