Quality Engineer

Location: Orlando, FL (100% onsite)
 Schedule: General business hours (5x8 or 4x10 options available)
 Duration: Contract through July 31, 2026
 Compensation: $32–35/hour
 Interview Process: One-round onsite interview
 
Role Overview
The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and advancing key quality initiatives with a primary focus on supplier quality performance. This role partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to drive corrective actions, ensure compliance to quality systems, and promote continuous improvement across a diverse supplier base.
The ideal candidate brings strong problem-solving skills, comfort working on the shop floor, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
 
Key Responsibilities
• Execute and support supplier approval, evaluation, and ongoing performance monitoring
 • Perform supplier evaluations, capability reviews, and document assessments
 • Manage supplier deviation and corrective action processes (internal and external)
 • Act as a liaison between Engineering and suppliers to resolve specification and drawing questions
 • Drive supplier quality metrics (KPIs), tracking, reporting, and continual improvement
 • Analyze supplier quality data, investigate trends, and implement corrective actions
 • Plan and execute supplier audits, preventative actions, and escape mitigation activities
 • Support product and process verification activities such as FAI, acceptance testing, and authorization to ship
 • Participate in supplier program milestone and new award reviews
 • Support Quality Management System updates and reporting
 • Contribute to Kaizen, rework reduction, and scrap reduction initiatives
 • Interface daily with manufacturing floor personnel to address quality issues as they arise
 • Other duties as assigned to support quality and business objectives
 
Typical Day
• Communicating with production and team members on quality issues
 • Reviewing and responding to quality-related emails
 • Performing data analysis to identify and resolve supplier-related issues
 • Investigating deviations and nonconformances
 • Updating quality system documentation and preparing reports
 
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
 • Emphasis on Lean Manufacturing and Quality Management Systems
 • 3–5 years of experience in supplier quality or manufacturing quality roles
 • ASQ certifications (CQE, CRE, CSQP) preferred
 • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural environment
Skills & Knowledge
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and data interpretation skills
 • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders
 • Experience with supplier management and corrective action methodologies
 • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, DFMEA, PPAP, RCCA
 • Project management experience or equivalent capability
 • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel-based analytics, and reporting tools
 • Experience with Teamcenter and Syteline preferred
 • Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills

 • Six Sigma
 • ISO 9001:2015
 • ASQ certifications (CQE, CRE, CSQP)
 • AWS training and/or certification (desired)
 • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) or portable articulated arm systems (a plus)
