Job Description

Major utility company in Monroe, MI is looking for a contract Project Engineer with experience in Facilities Management to join their team! 
 
 

This long-term contract role (possibility for extension or direct hire for the right candidate) offers a starting pay rate of $43/hour.


Position Summary: Our client is seeking a contract engineer to support the transfer of investment planning activities to the project engineering team, focusing on resolving project backlog. This role includes both onsite (Tues-Wed-Thurs) and remote (Mon-Fri) work arrangements, providing an excellent pathway for evaluating external talent for potential full-time consideration.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct engineering design evaluations and oversee projects to meet budget and schedule constraints.
  • Ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance with industry policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze production, malfunction, and maintenance reports to identify and resolve issues.
  • Offer technical support throughout the engineering process, following established guidelines and procedures.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (any discipline).
  • Experience: 3-7 years in one or more of the following sectors:
    • Energy and Utilities: Power generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, energy storage.
    • Oil and Gas: Refining, drilling, exploration.
    • Infrastructure: Municipal utility, wastewater treatment, roads, bridges, waterways.
    • Industrial: Facilities maintenance, commercial construction with major contractors, or chemical processing in a heavy industrial setting.
  • Project Scope: Experience managing projects valued at $500,000+.
  • Skillset: Knowledge of project and construction management, with experience in projectized work environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan.
  • Project Management Certification: PMP or CAPM.
