Job Description

Join a our Client, a leading automotive company,  as a Professional Maintenance Specialist (PMS). 

 

You'll manage advanced manufacturing equipment and technology in a dynamic, high-volume, unionized environment. You will play a crucial role in coordinating safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale initiatives related to your assigned equipment and technology. Your expertise will ensure maintenance procedures and processes are clearly defined, understood, and implemented by skilled trades professionals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs): Develop and maintain SMPs related to time-based maintenance (TBM), mean time between failure (MTBF) of components and equipment, and ensure equipment is maintained at basic conditions.
  • Technical Guidance: Collaborate with Skilled Trades staff to maintain and restore equipment/technology to basic conditions, providing guidance and coaching as needed.
  • KPI Achievement: Ensure SMPs support the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs) such as MTBF, mean time to repair (MTTR), and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve throughput, run-to-run, and downtime issues in a production environment.
  • World Class Manufacturing (WCM): Coordinate activities according to WCM standards, focusing on the Autonomous and Professional Maintenance Pillar activities.
  • Maintenance Planning: Impact overall equipment effectiveness by systematically planning and executing key maintenance activities, utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) - Total Maintenance System (TMS).
  • Kaizen Projects: Lead and actively participate in kaizen project activities aimed at improving safety, cost, quality, throughput, and waste reduction.

Qualifications:

  • High level of technical understanding of manufacturing technology, including operations, component life cycles, and maintenance activities.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills for team members at all levels, including hourly and supervisory staff.
  • Experience with World Class Manufacturing techniques for problem-solving and corrective action implementation.
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed maintenance procedures and processes.
  • Proven track record of achieving KPIs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve production-related issues efficiently.

Job Requirements

MUST BE LOCAL TO TOLEDO AREA AND AVAILABLE FOR ANY SHIFT

High School Diploma or GED

Minimum of 3 years of industrial automation experience with project management experience.
•Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
•Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills
•Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various levels of employees within all areas of the Plant from hourly represented employees to Senior Leadership as required
•Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers
•Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
•Demonstrated troubleshooting problem solving experience
•Goal oriented self-starter with ability to lead teams.
•Ability to coach/mentor/develop skilled trade employees
•Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Preferred Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in technical/engineering field
•Experience in continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing
•Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/develop team members
•Previous experience working in a union environment
•Green Belt/ Red X/ Six Sigma Training
•Experience with: controls, robotics, drives and system level communication systems, sealing systems, glass cell systems, various conveyance systems, welding - all types, paint process and associated systems, vision systems and sensors use and application.
•Experience in automotive / OEM body, paint, stamping press automation or general assembly.
•Familiar with World Class Manufacturing pillar methodology and implementation
•Good working knowledge of Google Suite software programs
