Material Handler – Night Shift (7PM–7AM Pitman Schedule)
Location: Sumter, SC
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Contract Role | 40 Hours per Week | 3rd Shift
Our client, a leading provider in the recycling and in-plant services industry, is seeking dependable and hardworking Material Handlers to join their team in Sumter, South Carolina. This is a night shift opportunity operating on a Pitman schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
If you have forklift experience and are comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment, this could be a strong fit.
Position Overview
Material Handlers are responsible for moving recyclable materials throughout the facility, conducting grading processes, and preparing materials for shipment and sale destinations. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to operate material handling equipment safely.
Key Responsibilities
Move materials throughout the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, handcarts, hoists, or other equipment
Load materials into trucks and secure shipments with strapping, bracing, or padding
Use PC tablets to input and receive information such as part numbers, quantities, and locations
Transport materials from storage to designated work areas
Label and tag materials appropriately
Document work performed accurately
Conduct material audits and inspections
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age
Legally authorized to work in the United States
High school diploma or GED required
Forklift experience preferred
0–4 years of previous experience in a warehouse, industrial, or recycling environment preferred
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently
Comfortable with pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and lifting
Strong motor coordination and dexterity required
Work environment includes exposure to dirt, noise, odors, and varying temperatures
Steel toe boots required (additional PPE provided by our client)
