Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Floor Technician to join our environmental services team. This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of all flooring surfaces throughout the facility. The Floor Tech will perform specialized floor care duties, including stripping, waxing, buffing, scrubbing, and carpet cleaning, while ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine and deep cleaning of hard floors, including mopping, sweeping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and burnishing.
Operate and maintain floor care equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and extractors.
Clean and maintain carpeted areas through vacuuming, spot cleaning, and full extractions.
Follow established safety procedures to prevent accidents and protect patients, staff, and visitors.
Report any needed repairs, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.
Assist with general housekeeping tasks as needed to support the environmental services team.
Ensure compliance with infection control standards, facility policies, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous floor care or custodial experience preferred but not required; training will be provided.
Ability to safely use and maintain floor care equipment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
Schedule & Work Environment
Must be flexible with scheduling, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Work is performed in a healthcare or educational facility environment where safety, cleanliness, and infection prevention are critical.
