Job Description

Our client, a major utility company, is looking for an Environmental Specialist to work with their team onsite at their power plant in Trenton, MI. 
 
This is a contract position (eligible for extension or direct hire for the right candidate) that offers a starting pay rate of $69.99/hour (benefits are available). 
 
 
Duties would include oversight of site work for OSHA compliance, safety observation and review of job hazard analysis.
 
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
  • Identifying potential hazards
  • Conducting safety audits
  • Preparing safety plans and policies
  • Monitoring compliance with regulations
  • Conducting training sessions for staff
  • Responding to emergency situations
  • Developing safety-related programs like workers compensation, loss prevention, industrial hygiene substance abuse, fire protection and the like
  • Performing site inspections
  • Investigating accidents or incidents

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety or related field or 1-3 years in a related experience- Required
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar EHS role with progressive work assignments- Preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, interpretations, and health and safety programs- Required
  • Aptitude to solve problems quickly with advanced conflict resolution skills- Required
  • Advanced professional EHS certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM, QEP, CEA, REM )- Strongly Preferred 
  • Experience with behavioral based safety initiatives- Preferred
