Global manufacturer has an immediate need for a Draftsman Engineer on the 1st Shift for their facility in McIntosh, AL.   

 

This long-term contract position has a pay rate of $50.00 per hour. (Possible extension or direct hire. Benefits Available) 


Job Title: Draftsman Engineer



Prepares and checks drawings and layouts, specifications, charts, and bills of materials with minimal supervision or direction. 
• Creating and revising I&E drawings throughout the design and MOC processes
 • Assembling I&E design packages that will be utilized for construction purposes
 • Providing design assistance throughout all phases of projects 
• Provide design support for Process Engineering, Maintenance and Unit personnel 
• Create and maintain Client standard drawings including instrument installation details, templates, and bill of materials. 
• Entering project information, and work-requests, as well as tracking & coordinating progress for your jobs and projects. 
• Review vendor and contractor drawings and engineering work packages. 
• Reviews project documents for conformity and quality assurance to Client technical standards, global practices, and drafting standards. 
• Being responsible for the interpretation and adherence to Client Technical CAD Standards, industry standards, and applicable regulatory and design codes, as applicable to specific jobs and projects. 
• Assists others to collect or deliver design and engineering data at the job site. 
• Demonstrates awareness and commitment to health, safety, and environmental issues. Addresses those issues as necessary to ensure zero harm to all employees, and contractors. 

Job Requirements: 
• Must be able to perform field walk downs 
 Must be proficient in MicroStation CAD software 
• Demonstrated experienced reviewing Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) is required. 
• Experience with Microsoft Suite. 
• Knowledge of industrial computer systems, motor control, PLC, DCS and SIS. 
• Ability to work onsite at a chemical plant and Flexible Work Arrangements whenever possible 
• Ability to independently produce instrument location plans, wiring and loop diagrams, instrument installation details, instrument hookup details. 
• Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills. 
• Interacts with operations, project field personnel, and other staff. 
• Must be able to work both individually and on a team 
• Also performed infrared inspections of overhead power lines and Motor Control cubicles. 

Preferred Experience
• Working knowledge in SAP, Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) and In tools. 

Education: 
Associate degree in an engineering or scientific discipline and 5-8 years or more of experience, or specialized courses in drafting, design, and engineering practices plus two additional years of experience.
