Door Skins Operator – Manufacturing

Job Overview
We are seeking a Skins Operator to join our manufacturing team. This is a long-term opportunity for candidates who are looking to build stability and grow with the company. The ideal candidate will have previous machine operation or maintenance experience and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
What is a Skins Operator:
The Skins Operator is responsible for operating equipment used in the production of fiberglass/door skins, inspecting materials for quality, and ensuring products meet production specifications.
Responsibilities
- Follow standard work instructions to maintain a safe and orderly work area.
- Operate slitter tables, presses, and limited robotic functions.
- Inspect raw materials and fiberglass skins for quality defects.
- Follow proper procedures when identifying and escalating scrap material.
- Maintain hour-by-hour production updates for the assigned area.
- Read and interpret production schedules and work orders.
- Continuously monitor operations to ensure quality production.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Group Manager.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous machine operation or maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 49 lbs. regularly.
Work Environment
The position is performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical equipment, vibrations, and loud noises. All required safety protocols and OSHA guidelines must be followed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout the shift.
- Ability to regularly push, pull, and lift up to 49 lbs.
- Must have the visual ability to perform inspections, including close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
