Our client, a major chemical manufacturing company, is currently looking for a Data Scientist to join their team in Research Triangle Park, NC.

This is a long-term contract position (possibility of extension or direct hire for the right candidate) that offers a pay rate of $52.06/hour.

This role will be Hybrid - 3 days onsite (Tues, Wed, Thurs); 2 days working from home (Monday and Friday). 

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Generative AI Data Scientist to join our team in Research Triangle Park, NC. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) models, large language model (LLM) fine-tuning, and vector database management to drive impactful AI solutions for complex business challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Model Development: Design, develop, and optimize RAG models to enhance decision-making processes.
• Vector Database Management: Utilize vector databases and advanced indexing techniques for efficient information retrieval.
• LLM Fine-Tuning: Optimize and fine-tune large language models (LLMs) for improved performance.
• NLP & AI Innovation: Implement and experiment with natural language processing (NLP) techniques to enhance AI product capabilities.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with business units, platform engineers, and software engineers to integrate Generative AI solutions into production environments.
• Research & Innovation: Stay informed on the latest Generative AI advancements and data science technologies.
• Stakeholder Communication: Present findings and recommendations through clear and concise reports and presentations.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Proven experience developing and deploying Generative AI models in business settings.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages.
• Experience with data manipulation and analysis using SQL, Pandas, NumPy.
• Strong knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualization techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision applications.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Experience leading data science initiatives and project management.
