Senior Mechanical Engineer
Pay Rate: $61.07/hour
Location: Global Technology Center – Oshkosh, WI (local candidates preferred)
Interview Process: Two-step interview process via Teams
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term contract
Job Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing functional, reliable, and cost-effective heavy-duty vehicle components. This role includes engineering analysis, new design and redesign of components, as well as supporting vehicle and component integration. Candidates with prior experience at this company and proficiency in Creo, PTC, Windchill, and Microsoft Office are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering calculations, design analysis, and investigations in line with industry standards.
- Support senior engineers with design methods, plans, and technical reports.
- Lead projects or manage portions of projects with moderate complexity.
- Oversee and coordinate multiple projects as needed.
- Provide mentorship to entry-level engineers, designers, or technicians.
- Maintain effective collaboration with internal teams, external suppliers, and cross-functional partners.
- Enforce proper use of engineering standards and ensure technical compliance with company processes.
- Evaluate designs for safety, reliability, and performance.
- Prepare layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
- Conduct engineering analysis to support material and component selection.
- Deliver technical proposals, reports, and presentations.
- Provide technical assistance to production support teams.
- Create and maintain documentation for research, project history, and analysis.
- Apply mathematical and analytical methods to optimize design and performance.
- Investigate and resolve engineering issues, communicating updates effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment systems.
- Proficiency with high-level CAD software (e.g., Creo, PTC, Windchill).
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong communication skills for both technical and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to manage moderately complex projects and make sound engineering decisions.
- Problem-solving skills with judgment in applying established practices to new challenges.
- Leadership capabilities to guide and review the work of junior staff.
Working Conditions:
- Office and shop floor environment with routine shift hours.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and computer use.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Some variability in workload and deadlines requiring adaptability.
