Job Title: Estimator – Electrical (Power Distribution)
Location: Detroit, MI (Hybrid – 3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
Pay Rate: $73.26 per hour

About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Estimator – Electrical to support large-scale power distribution projects. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact infrastructure initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional project management teams. The Estimator will play a key role in developing, monitoring, and updating cost estimates to ensure projects are executed efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, monitor, and update project estimates for large electrical power distribution projects.
Prepare cost estimates at all levels (Rough Order of Magnitude, conceptual, parametric, definitive).
Review design documents for completeness and provide constructability feedback.
Validate contractor and engineering estimates; analyze bids for scope accuracy and pricing.
Perform risk analysis, benchmarking, value engineering, and claim analysis.
Ensure cost-loaded schedules are aligned with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
Develop and maintain historical estimate data and lessons learned.
Support project teams with cost forecasting, budget controls, and reporting.
Ensure estimating processes and standards are applied consistently.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Occasionally work in industrial/power plant environments (stairs, confined spaces, hot conditions).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.
Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience estimating large electrical power distribution projects (highly preferred).
Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and power distribution systems.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (cost models, formulas, pivot tables).
Experience with estimating software (InEight or Timberline preferred).
Eligible to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship, including future conversion to permanent hire.
Must be local to the Detroit, MI area (no relocation).
