Material Handler
Location: East Granby, CT
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00am – 4:30pm
Employment Type: Onsite, Contract with potential extension
Compensation: $19-$20/hr
Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable Material Handler to support warehouse and production operations. This role is responsible for receiving, stocking, delivering, and shipping materials while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and workplace safety. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment and will thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, verify, and stock incoming materials.
- Pull, stage, and deliver materials for production according to work orders.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Prepare and complete shipping documentation (BOLs, confirmations, etc.).
- Maintain accurate inventory and support cycle counts.
- Uphold safety and housekeeping standards, following 5S/lean practices.
- Assist with general warehouse and material flow activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous material handling, warehouse, or inventory management experience.
- Experience operating forklifts or similar equipment (certification preferred or ability to obtain).
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, shipping documents, and safety guidelines.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Basic computer or warehouse technology experience a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking, standing, reaching, and lifting up to 25 lbs (occasionally more).
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to warehouse conditions including noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and moving equipment.
- Regular daytime shift schedule with potential overtime as needed.
