Our client is looking for a skilled and proactive Greenhouse Maintenance Technician to join their team at their facility in Acampo, CA
This is a long-term contract role with a Pay Rate of $18 - $22/hour, based on experience. (Possible extension or direct hire. Benefits Available)
This role is crucial for maintaining greenhouse structures, climate control systems, and supporting the growth of new plant varieties. Ideal candidates will have experience in greenhouse maintenance or construction, and be willing to take on various technical and operational responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Responsibilities
Maintain and perform preventative maintenance on climate control systems, greenhouse structures, and other greenhouse equipment.
Find technical solutions and improvements for daily operations throughout greenhouses and the facility.
Execute greenhouse tasks in cooperation with internal customers to support the creation of new plant varieties.
Safely operate pickup trucks, cars, and forklifts.
Use power tools and field equipment for maintenance and repairs in the greenhouse.
Obtain a pesticide private applicator license (if not already licensed) and apply pesticides using a respirator.
Monitor growing conditions such as fertigation, lighting, pests, and other environmental factors for vegetable crops.
Perform operational tasks in greenhouses and hardening houses to ensure the growth of healthy plants.
Use modern computer systems for irrigation, climate control, and operational administration.
Carry out the basic steps of standard operating procedures independently.
Troubleshoot, repair, and install basic irrigation systems (e.g., replace PVC and metal pipes, fix solenoids).
Perform certain tasks outside normal working hours (e.g., irrigating crops, pest control, monitoring crop growth, checking premises, or testing security systems). These tasks are compensated separately and can be essential to the role.
Experience and Job Requirements
At least 1 year of greenhouse maintenance experience OR 1 year in agriculture maintenance/construction with equipment troubleshooting.
Greenhouse experience preferred.
Pesticide application experience preferred.
Ability to learn and work with new greenhouse management systems.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work weekends and after hours as needed.
Valid driver’s license.
Commitment to working according to QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) standards.
